With access by road, distance to the beach approx 2000 metres. Parking. Sandy beach, size approx. 1000 x 50 metres. Good surfing. Summer water temp 22C, winter 16C. Restaurants and cafes on and leading to the beach. Extensive beach with track to a 17th Century fort. Great surfing beaches also further north on praia de mareta, praia da arrifana and praia do monte clerigo.

Praia do Amado – Aljezur
With access by road – distance to the beach is approx 1000 metres. Beach size approx. 800 x 150 metres. Sandy. No blue flag. Nor recommended for surfing or swimming. Water temp. summer 22C, winter 16C. Beach café.

Praia da Figueira – Vila do Bispo
Access by road. Distance from road to beach 0 metres. Beach size approx. 80 x 50. Sandy. Not recommended for surfing or swimming. No cafes/restaurants. Quiet, tranquil, sandy beach ideal to ‘get away from it all’.

Praia da Salema and Boca do Rio - Salema In the Algarves southwest corner, the long stretch of sand right in front of Salema village has cliffs at either end. Popular with windsurfers and good for scuba and snorkelling. Access by road. Distance from road to beach 0 metres. Parking. Beach size approx 500 x 40 metres. Sandy. Beach and roadside cafes and restaurants.
For BOCA DO RIO access onto beach is easy but tucked away. Approach from back road connecting Burgau and Salema. Scuba divers and snorkellers will want to explore remains of a French Man-or-war lying on the sea bed about 300 metres offshore.

Praia da Luz - Praia da Luz
A long gentle bay on the fringe of Luz town, west of Lagos. A palm lined promenade with a number of beachside cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops and market, make it ideal for young families. One of the best beaches in the Algarve.

Praia da Burgau - Burgau
A petite beach well situated in front of the picturesque fishing village, cosseted by cliffs. Parking is limited so it would be advisable to leave any vehicles in the village and walk down.

Porto de Mós - Lagos
A sandy cove between Luz and Lagos, flanked by cliffs with a beach bar and public facilities. Easy access can be had from a small car park behind the beach.

Praia Dona Ana - Lagos
The most popular beach in the Lagos region, surrounded by steep cliffs and provides good shelter from the wind. Access is limited by a series of steep steps, unsuitable for people who are elderly or with limited physical ability. Breath taking views from the bar and restaurant at the top.

Meia Praia - Lagos
A long, wide stretch of sand which can be seen across the bay from the Fortress in Lagos. There is no natural shade but a couple of excellent, recently refurbished beach bars towards the Lagos end offering sunbeds and shades for hire. Excellent for enjoying Algarve water sports - waterskiing, sailing and windsurfing rentals are available in summer.
